THE DOROTHY MARY (WARK) AND JOSEPH ANTON SCHAERTLE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This endowment was established by David Q. Wark as a perpetual memorial to his sister Dorothy Mary (Wark) and her husband Joseph Anton Schaertle.

Dorothy was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1910. Her family moved to Pasadena in June 1921 and both Dorothy and her brother were educated in the Pasadena public schools. Dorothy passed away in April 1995. Dorothy's husband, Joseph Schaertl,  was born in Montana in 1902. At the age of 25 he moved to the Los Angeles area where he met Dorothy. Dorothy and Joseph were married in 1932 and continued to live in Southern California until Joseph’s death in June 1982.

The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize a graduating senior who has demonstrated honesty, involvement, academics, responsibility, and dedication to future schooling.
